User environment design for a part of a mail system. There are 6 boxes, handle mail, choose principle, read message, compose message, manage address book & send message, each representing a focus area in the system -- like rooms in a house. Each room/box (e.g. compose mail) focuses on the specific it supports (e.g. create a new message). In each box is listed the functions enable toe work to be done (e.g. edit content, address mail, add to cc list) and objects the user works on (e.g. message, person, group content) accomplish their task. Links between these “rooms” are like corridors, allowing movement between related areas to support activity (e.g. read message > compose message). Hidden areas (indicated by dashed lines vs. solid) are focus areas that support work but do not directly interact with user (e.g. send message).
